Coombes Community Centre hosted a community fun day for last event of the ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ campaign.
Royston residents were invited to the last event of the Love Your Neighbourhood campaign, a community fun day set up for local families. The event took place in the half term, and provided activities to keep the children engaged throughout the day. Despite the bad weather, around 100 residents arrived to join in the fun. They were mostly mothers with young children who were looking for creative activities to do during the school holidays.
The activities included a bouncy castle that featured flashing lights, a face painting stall, a balloon magician and arts and crafts. Members of the Partnership also had stalls, including Hertfordshire Police, Time Bank and Herts Mind Network. Throughout the event free refreshments were handed out by volunteers. The biscuits proved to be particularly popular with the children. The hall was very lively and noisy, with excited children running around the hall. Even Queen Elsa from the hit Disney film made a guest appearance. The children were very excited to see her.
Michal Siewniak, Community Development Manager for North Herts CVS said: “Our final Love Your Neighbourhood campaign event at the Coombes Community Centre was a real success. I am delighted that so many residents, including children, attended and had a lot of fun. The hall was lively and very noisy. It is worth mentioning that the whole campaign has benefited local communities across North Hertfordshire (particularly in Royston and Hitchin) in number of ways and made a real difference to their lives”.
The Love Your Neighbourhood campaign was officially launched in June and set out to deliver 100 days of exciting activities and initiatives to make a positive difference in Hitchin (Westmill) and Royston (Coombes).
